The Bank of New York

The house we are buying was foreclosed on and is owned by the bank of new york. They have been absolutely ridiculous to work with. Normally when you put an offer on a house you find out in a couple of days whether it was accepted or not. It took us 3 weeks to even hear back from them. They accepted our offer and we set a closing date for today, the 24th of April. Well, once again they have dropped the ball. They sent the wrong closing paperwork, and state that they cannot get us the right paperwork for 2 weeks or so because they are in the process of moving offices. I think it is a load of crap. This is no small bank we are dealing with. Here's a pic of their gold vaultOur realtor says that all they'd have to do is go to Office Depot and get a generic Power of Attorney form, complete it by hand and fax it to us and then we'd be able to close on the house and move in. Unfortunately, we can't even communicate with the bank. Our realtor calls the title company who calls their title company who calls a third party who calls the bank. Ridiculous huh.

Melanie and I are faced with the dilemma now of what to do with all of our belongings and where to live while we wait for this bank to get their ducks in a row. They are sure good at stacking gold in rows. Too bad they can't send a simple fax to complete a business deal. No wonder our country's banks are failing, along with the real estate sector. I hate when corporate America takes advantage of the little guy. Thanks for letting me vent.

Wow! No fun! Where are you guys buying? We have been looking at homes up in SLC with a realtor the past few weeks and it can be a discouraging process!
If you have any good advice send it our way! Who was your realtor? We have one but I might be interested in looking for a new one...
